All of our work through multiple projects is aimed towards empowering young people and adults in the local area to make change happen for themselves and also for their local neighbourhood.
Project Grow is a project serving the community of Macclesfield, using surplus food that would go to landfill and spreading it to those in need. Around 18 million tonnes of food go to land fill every year in the UK, this project is helping to lower that number and feed people good nutritious food at the same time. A lot of the work Cre8 does is focused on disadvantaged young people and their families on the Moss Rose estate, we have recently taken on a new project (Project Grow!) which will serve the wider community of Macclesfield. We are in desperate need of a refrigerated van so we can serve the huge demand within our community to store, transport and deliver food to those in need. We are fortunate to have the backing of one local supermarket who give us their surplus food Monday - Friday every week, unfortunately we cannot take refrigerated food because we have no storage or a way to deliver it still fresh, which is why a refrigerated van is so important for us.
An example of what we do is last Christmas we fed almost 100 families who were struggling to put a Christmas dinner on the table for their families. We had an amazing group of volunteers who gave up their afternoon and evening of Christmas Eve to help those in need around them.  They collectively picked up food, sorted it all into boxes and delivered it around the estate and local area.
