support gender-affirming community closet

gods closet is a community closet that provides gender-affirming clothing to trans and gender non-conforming folks in chicago. we hold monthly pop-ups throughout the city where we not only have racks of clothing available to browse but host a safe and celebratory space where we can experiment, explore, and co-create personal expression through fashion. 

currently our operating costs have been coming out of our own pockets, and we haven’t had a budget for compensating the djs, stylists, makeup artists, designers, and other artists who have so graciously been volunteering their time.

we’re fundraising for three things:

1. to cover our operating costs (storage unit rental, clothing racks, hangers, signage, website, etc)

2. to compensate the artists we feature at our pop-ups (who are primarily all black and brown queer/trans folks)

3. we’re throwing a big party as a fundraiser in january and need some seed money to cover the costs of our event! (venue, merch, runway, decor, djs, drinks, etc)

we need to raise $2,500 by the end of this year to cover the expenses listed above and to ensure we have the means to throw our fundraiser party in february! your money goes directly to bringing joy and gender euphoria to trans folks. please consider donating—any amount helps and means a tremendous amount to us. thank you!
