Global Network For Uganda Volounteers Foundation

Hello everybody!
My name is Benedetta, I am 25 years old and I am a social worker. Until the end of December, I am in the middle of the countryside in Uganda. I came here to work with the organization " Global Network For Uganda Volunteers Foundation" .
The organization founded in 2013, later registered as an NGO in 2018, was established to provide sustainable volunteer services to Uganda's most rural and marginalized communities, with a focus on women and children.
Initially, GNUVF focused its operations in the Wakiso district supporting women and seeking to increase agricultural production. It now operates in all regions of Uganda focusing on the socio-economic empowerment of women and the education of children.

Given my deep interest in women's empowerment, I decided to collaborate with them by developing my own project. At the moment, in addition to helping the women with their daily chores, I teach a crochet class. This will not only serve as a distraction and take time for themselves, but also help them create clothes, hats, etc. that they can sell and thus help them gain sufficient economic independence.

Although I am working with women, I have also been able to spend time with children, some children of the women I work with, others with distant parents. GNUVF takes care of this school attended by children between the ages of 3 and 12.
I decided to open a fundraiser to support these very people, who are more vulnerable, lonely and therefore in need.

When I first entered the school I was welcomed by everyone with open arms and unforgettable smiles on their faces. Some of them live in the school, since their families cannot afford to support them.
For them, the school is not only a place of growth and learning but also a safe place: it is their home, where they share spaces with their peers and can entertain themselves with games and laughter, experiencing situations that are incompatible with their everyday family life.

Here's what you could do!

Unfortunately, sad news has just arrived: the Ugandan Minister of Education has declared that it will be impossible to guarantee education for the children from February 2023, as the school has several structural problems (no entrance gate, no beds for the children, who are therefore forced to sleep on the floor or on desks), which need to be resolved as a matter of urgency.
What is most important at the moment is precisely to resolve these problems, preventing the school from closing early, and thus being able to guarantee continuity of education for the children. For some, indeed, school represents a lot, if not everything.

My wish is to support the GNUVF association through funds, so that the women and children of this community can live in safety and tranquillity.
The first objective is to meet the school's needs, which are most urgent at the moment due to restrictions imposed by the government.
The second objective, determined by the success of the fundraising, is to assist the community through periodic donations, thus encouraging the continuation of my project.

Below is an estimate of the amount of money required for each item.

1. One gate, including materials and labour: 1000€.

2. Additional sewing machines (3) for the women's sewing project: 450€

3. Materials for the start-up of the women's sewing project and expenses for the instructor: 300€

4. Construction of a classroom in the school: 3000 €

My main intention is therefore to raise funds that will be used to purchase the school gate.

I believe that the journey I am currently undertaking, right in the field, can be an excellent opportunity to demonstrate my ongoing commitment to a community in need, and to perpetuate my testimony on a daily basis on the project's developments. It would be ideal if I could personally contribute to the purchase of materials during my time there!

I am enormously grateful for the help you will show towards me, but above all towards the community. Every donation is essential and valuable. please remember that there is no limit to donations. Feel free to support the project through donations of limited amounts, every help is significant and makes a difference!
