Global Health Reach Guatemala 2022

Hello!
My name is Stacy Beaupre. I am a 13-year practicing Physician Assistant and am HONORED to return to Guatemala this June for my 4th medical mission! This will be my 3rd trip with Global Health Reach, and second to Guatemala. Global Health Reach is a nonprofit organization that strives for relationships to the communities we serve, and prides themselves on maintaining those relationships by providing continuity of care, and support even when our group is not present in country. After two long years our amazing team will be back with open arms and hearts to serve the incredible rural communities in Guatemala. The area we serve has only ONE medical professional for up to 40,000 patients. This can be overwhelming and limiting to many of those in need. GHR has strived to help with augmenting care and providing continuity of care to these communities for years. Our goal is to provide aid with the resources we are able to bring. What we bring is dependent on the various talents of our team and has been, but not limited to: OB/GYN care, acute care, preventative care, dental care...the list goes on. We stock a pharmacy that allows for acute infection treatment as well as chronic management of diseases such as hypertension and diabetes. We also provide fluoride treatments and more specialized education depending on the population we have the privilege to serve on the days of clinic. We will have 3 full day clinics this time around, and a diverse team of Providers, Nurses, and Pharmacy techs(to name a few). All patients are given education in clean water and infection control in addition to lots of love and laughs.
The pandemic has undoubtedly been challenging for me as a PA. Burnout and pure exhaustion are only a few adjectives to describe the difficulties faced these past two years. I have previously felt such rejuvenation from having the honor to serve these communities abroad. Somedays, I have felt like I have needed my international patients more than they have needed me these past two years. It has always been important for me to show philanthropy as an example of the human I strive to be, as well as the woman I exemplify for my daughters. Unfortunately, the US medical/legal system creates discouraging hurdles locally for many providers trying to practice similarly to our capacities in Guatemala. I am not blind to the needs locally and strive daily to be the best PA I can be for my patients here as well within those boundaries. Going on Medical Missions is like flying with the wings I have grown through education, compassion, and empathy, not the ones that have been shaped and cut by a system. I am thankful the time has officially come to spread my REAL wings and return.
In the past, I have created an Amazon list of items that would be helpful for my current mission, but this go around I am asking for financial contributions to augment my donation fee ($1,150) as well as funds to bring items for last minute needs. (Which will be dependent due to the pandemic as far as what is allowed and what we are short of.) I will be sure to share what I end up specifically contributing to the team on my social media.
I have been blessed in previous trips with amazing contributions and am grateful for all the support! I cannot wait to share all the amazing pics from this very special, soul fulfilling trip! If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.
Thank you so very much from the absolute bottom of my heart.
