Children’s heart unit

Hi everyone, for those who don’t know our little heart warrior Luca had open heart surgery at 5 months old. He was diagnosed at our 20 week scan with a heart condition and we were told he would need surgery within the first year of his life. Fast forward to 5 month old and he was a great weight and fit and well for surgery. We spent 2 weeks at the Freeman hospital in Newcastle where he had his full repair and was in surgery for over 6 hours. The staff in PICU and ward 23 for the children’s heart ward were phenomenal and the charity allowed us to stay in Scott house on the hospital grounds so we were just a short walk away and could visit Luca anytime day or night. This was a huge relief to be able to stay so close and keep us all together at such a stressful and uncertain time. We would like to give back in any way we can and help other families in our situation be kept together and given the amazing support we received. We would appreciate any donations big or small to help go towards the charity ‘children’s heart unit fund’.
