Hi, my name is Michelle. I have decided to do this gofundme page for my cousin and her son.
On Saturday Rhys had an accident and was air lifted to kings college hospital, where he was placed into a medically induced coma.
He has suffered a serious head injury, he has a fractured skull which has caused a subdural hemothorax and bruising on the brain which was causing swelling on the brain, they put a sensor thing in his skull to monitor the pressure. We were told he been in sedated for at least 48hrs, however, yesterday lunchtime ish, the pressure monitor was removed, sedation was being reduced and Rhys was waking up and he was responding well!!
He is now off the ventilator and breathing by himself, he is smashing all the targets the drs set.
Rhys is a fighter, to be told the next 48hrs are critical and for him to be off the ventilator and out of the coma 24hrs later is incredible.
The out pouring of love from his mates, my friends, close family and even total strangers has been extremely overwhelming.
We appreciate all the love and support that's been given to our family during this scary and emotional time.
My cousin and family can't fault the air ambulance, paramedics, police, hospital staff and Rhys mates, he wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for their fast actions
Am am creating this page to try and raise funds to help cover costs expenses so my cousin can stay closer to her son while he is in ICU recovering from a head trauma. To cover cost like staying in hotels, as she can't stay at King's, my cousin is self employed and has closed her business whilst she is there for her son, which is understandable and I know it's so close to Christmas and a big ask but would appreciate any donation, no amount is too small.
