Support Pacific City Airport: Year-end Appeal 2022

Tax deductible
We kicked off our year-end fundraising campaign on Giving Tuesday, the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. On Giving Tuesday, individuals are encouraged to support philanthropies that transform their community and the world. Small rural airports in the U.S. are being sold and converted into housing and commercial developments. Our small group of aviation advocates won't let that happen to this small coastal gem. We're asking for your help to keep Pacific City State Airport (KPFC) a public airstrip.

Why make a gift to Friends of Pacific City State Airport?

Pacific City State Airport is a small coastal airport in Oregon that provides pilots with immediate access to a beach of the Pacific Ocean. Its uniqueness attracts Pacific Northwest pilots, who seek opportunities to fish and surf, walk on the beach or enjoy a meal at a local restaurant. The pilots and their passengers spend money at local businesses and don't add to the auto traffic and congestion on area roads. The airport is frequently used for transport during medical emergencies. It is regularly included in Coast Guard practice drills. Pacific City State Airport is an important community asset.

The State of Oregon owns the airport, and the Oregon Department of Aviation manages it. But because of a limited agency budget, it dedicates little annual funding for maintenance and improvements. A group of pilots, aviation advocates and community members formed a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization - Friends of Pacific City State Airport (KPFC) - to save the airport from sale and closure over the past decade. Through a legal agreement with the Oregon Department of Aviation, Friends of KPFC provides much of the airport's ongoing maintenance.

The Friends of KPFC Board constantly strives to make the State airport a safer and more attractive asset for the local community and the aviation community. The nonprofit organization provides volunteers and seeks funding for the following efforts and projects to improve the airport and support youth seeking aviation careers. Will you help by making a donation?

Restrooms - paper products and cleaning supplies

Bicycle Shed - larger shed and newer bicycles for visiting pilots and passengers

Information Sign - a weather-protected place to post resources for meals, lodging, shopping, AV gas and public transportation

Website - an upgraded online site to provide information about the airport, offer access to webcams and a weather station, and invite volunteer and financial support for the airport

Facebook Page - a dynamic page to provide timely announcements about events that impact the airport, visiting pilots, volunteers and supporters

Overgrowth & Flood Debris - large and small equipment and volunteers to mow grass and remove weeds, brambles, and bushes along with flood debris in drainage canals

Flight Training Scholarships - $750 scholarships to aid Tillamook County high school students as they pursue the goal of gaining a private pilots license. (Please let us know if you donate towards a scholarship, as this is a restricted fund).

Whether you are an individual, business, Club or another type of organization, please show your appreciation for this amazing coastal icon. Make a gift in memory of or in honor of a pilot and aviation-loving individuals. Together we can reach the $1000 goal for 2023 improvements to Pacific City State Airport.

We welcome donations via Go Fund Me/Pay Pal or you can also send a check to: Friends of Pacific City State Airport, PO Box 1101, Pacific City, OR 97135.

Thank you.
