Giving back to Ubud
Donation protected

My partner, Marla, and I decided to relocate to Bali prior to the outbreak of Covid-19. The current travel restrictions abruptly made Bali our home. We watched the rapid decline of the tourism industry that most Balinese people rely on for their primary source of income. As we continued to learn more about the Balinese culture we witnessed so many people fall into a very difficult financial position. The majority of people here are now unemployed. Bali has taken care of us and we want to give back to the people who can no longer support themselves or their families. We began by feeding families in the Ubud region out of our own pockets. Our primary focus is to purchase the most basic ingredients for them - rice, noodles, oil and eggs. Now, we need the help of others who are fortunate enough to be able to donate. There are so many mouths to feed and we are no where near the end of the travel restrictions that have forced so many people out of work. We are working with the mayor of Ubud, along with all the heads of the local government to ensure the support is going to those most in need. There are over 900 families in this region and with more support we could start organizing food donations to other regions that are also in desperate need. We are currently able to buy rice for $1AUD per kg, eggs for $0.10AUD each, oil for $1.60AUD per litre and noodles for $4.50AUD per box of 40 packets. Our $6000 goal will feed many people but the Balinese will need much more help until we are past the Covid-19 crisis.
Please feel free to reach out to us with any questions, comments or words of support. We know not everyone is able to donate but we love getting a nice note :)
