I met Ramon Aquilar in 2018 at the Shower of Hope location in MacArthur Park. Ramon was a Shower employee, one of the program’s first. I was a volunteer. It would be the start of a friendship I still enjoy today. When I joined the Friday crew at MacArthur Park, I didn’t know that Ramon was unhoused himself and would be for another three years. For Ramon, life on the streets of Los Angeles was not a barrier to helping others; it was motivation.
Now Ramon needs help. A few weeks ago, he was told he needed a new liver. This GoFundMe will help Ramon stay housed and fed while he’s unable to work. All funds raised will also go towards the medical costs he is now up against. In addition to the liver transplant, he may also need dialysis if one isn’t found in time.
Please take this opportunity to give back to a man who has already given so much to others.
