— WHAT IS GIVE ESSENTIAL? —
Give Essential is a matching platform that connects essential workers who need items to donors who have resources to share. We allow donors to directly send items to essential workers on the frontline of COVID-19, creating a personal donation process that makes the lives of essential workers a little easier.
— WHO ARE WE? —
Hi! We're two college roommates. Over the past few weeks, COVID-19 has turned our lives upside down. With classes moved to online learning, we wanted to put our extra time and energy into creating something positive. As we read more and more about the increasing dangers essential workers face, we thought that there had to be something we could do to help them during this outbreak. So, we created Give Essential.
To us, an essential worker is anyone who has to risk their health in order to make ends meet and/or is unable to work from home. We want to serve the grocery delivery drivers who lack PPE despite promises from management. We want to serve the grocery store stockers who must leave their children at home while they work long and odd hours. We want to serve retail store cashiers who suddenly face limited access to feminine and hygiene products. We have extra resources lying around our houses that can help ease some of the challenges many essential workers are facing today—why not put them to use?
Give Essential is a 100% volunteer-run organization. We're looking for financial support to cover the costs of running the organization (website maintenance, database hosting, Typeform, etc), to improve our operations, and to help Give Essential expand and reach broader communities. Any extra funds will be donated to the COVID-19 Fundraiser for the World Health Organization.
