Give Tyrone Smith The Chance He Deserves

Tyrone Smith, an intellectually disabled, young, black boy, was being harassed at Waukesha South High School. Tyrone was failed by the education institutions in Waukesha, Waukesha police and the community when he was bullied and the right supports were not introduced to protect Tyrone. The day after his 18th birthday, Tyrone tried to intimidate his bullies with a BB gun. The situation was not properly de-escalated when commands were being issued to Tyrone. The police shot him twice and a third bullet missed him. Tyrone is not a criminal. Tyrone is a black boy failed by inadequate systems and institutions within Waukesha and beyond. He needs to be free so he can fully work on getting his charges dropped and so he can fully heal and be restored. The longer we wait, the worse off Tyrone and his family will be.


Money collected to support Tyrone will go to bail out Tyrone, costs of living, transportation to and from court, and other needs as they arise.
