Imagine your child losing their mum at 39. This is our reality, and we are fighting to keep Lisa with her boys.
My sister is only 39 years old - a devoted mum to two beautiful boys - but for the past three years, she has been fighting a battle no one ever expects to face, especially not this young.
Before her diagnosis, she had been going to her GP with symptoms, trying to understand what was wrong. Bowel cancer was never considered. This is not a criticism of the care she received, but at her age, further investigations like a colonoscopy weren’t thought to be necessary. All the while, the cancer was growing silently.
In November 2023, at just 36, she was diagnosed with advanced stage 3 bowel cancer. What makes it even harder to understand is that, before her diagnosis, both stool and blood tests showed nothing.
Everything changed overnight.
She underwent major emergency surgery to remove the tumour, followed by rounds of chemotherapy. Through it all, she stayed strong - for her family, for her future, and most of all for her two boys.
For a while, we allowed ourselves to hope that the worst was behind us.
In June 2024, she had her stoma reversed and thought that she could put the cancer journey behind her. Hope felt real again.
But in September 2024, our world was shaken again. The cancer had returned to her ovaries. She faced a hysterectomy, entered medically induced menopause, and endured yet another recovery - but she kept going, showing a level of strength that inspires everyone around her.
Then came November 2025 - the news no family ever wants to hear. The cancer was back again. It has spread, and this time it’s not responding to chemotherapy.
We’re running out of options - but Lisa is not done fighting.
Right now, the treatments available to her are limited.
Professor Murphy at Cleveland Clinic London Hospital has said he can perform surgery and HIPEC privately, offering a chance to keep fighting here in the UK - to give her more time, more memories, and more moments with the people who love her most. HIPEC (Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy) is a specialised treatment where, after surgery to remove tumors, heated chemotherapy is delivered directly to the abdominal cavity to target remaining cancer cells more effectively. This is a specialised procedure that isn’t routinely available, which is why we are reaching out for help. Time is something we don’t have the luxury of, which is why we are reaching out now.
We have also been advised that supportive therapies such as hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) and infrared (far-infrared) therapy may help aid recovery, improve oxygen delivery to tissues, support healing, and enhance overall wellbeing during treatment - but these come at a significant cost.
Every donation will go directly towards giving Lisa the best chance to fight this cancer. £100,000 will cover her life-saving surgery and HIPEC with Professor Murphy, while any additional funds raised will go towards supportive therapies like hyperbaric oxygen therapy and infrared (far-infrared) therapy, as well as associated care and recovery costs.
But we can’t do this alone.
My sister isn’t just a patient - she is a wife to her loving husband, Paul, and a devoted mum to two boys who need her. My nephews need their mum. Paul needs his wife. My parents need their daughter. And I need my sister.
We are asking for your help to give her that chance - to keep Lisa with us.
I can’t bear the thought of her not being here. I don’t want my nephews to grow up asking why their mum isn’t around. I have to try everything possible to keep her in their world.
Every donation, no matter how small, brings us closer to the treatment she desperately needs. If you don’t feel able to donate, sharing Lisa’s story would mean the world to us - each share increases our chances of reaching the people who can help Lisa.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and for helping us fight for someone who means everything to us.
We’re just trying to keep a mum with her boys. ❤️
