My name is Brian McDaniels, and I’m a pastor in Longview, TX. Each year, my wife and I go out on Christmas Eve to find people to give money to help with the burden of Christmas. This year, I saw Joe, a 78-year-old man working the toy section at Walmart on Christmas Eve. I handed him an envelope filled with cash. I asked him why he was still working at Walmart at his age, and he told me he needed the money because his wife was sick and he was trying to pay off their medical bills. She is still recovering from being mishandled and is still immobile from her issues.
I asked him if he would allow me to help him spend more time with his wife and less time stocking shelves at Walmart at his age! He began to cry at the thought that someone would think to help him! My wife and I were not okay when we first saw him trying to put a toy on the shelf while his hands shook and knew this was the person we were supposed to help. I handed him an envelope with hundreds of dollars to help, but I cannot be done. I think it’s time we pay off Joe’s medical bills and retire him from working at 78 years old so he can spend the last years of his life with his wife, not stocking shelves. I’m not okay with this sweet man working a job he physically shouldn’t be working anymore! He is as sweet as he looks, as we talked for as long as his manager would allow us to. We prayed for his wife and his strength as he admitted he doesn't mind working to “stay young and mobile,” and he gave me permission with tears in his eyes as we departed to help him pay off his debt!
And that is EXACTLY what we will do with your help!!!!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR GIFT, LARGE OR SMALL! You can follow me on Instagram “pb_mcdaniels” to see when we hand the sweet old man a check larger than he expects! My wife and I have a large enough following that we believe we can raise well beyond our current goal to not only see his debt paid but to see this man live out the rest of his days not stocking shelves after 11 years at Walmart!
UPDATE: WE HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT NOW WITH JOE'S DAUGHTER LEXIE WHO HAS OFFICIALLY AUTHORIZED THE CAMPAIGN TO GET THE FUNDS TO HER PARENTS!
