Our dear friend Tim Perry—a longtime member of the Richmond Volleyball Club community—is facing the fight of his life. In October, Tim was diagnosed with end-stage pulmonary fibrosis, an 80% blockage of a major coronary artery, and Scleroderma, an autoimmune disease. His best hope for survival is an open-heart bypass and a double lung transplant—performed at the same time.

Tim is now on continuous oxygen, so it's critical. Currently three institutions may be able to help Tim. Regardless of where he lands for the transplant, there are enormous challenges ahead. He and his wife Amy must relocate to that location for 9–12 months for surgery, recovery, and follow-up care.

Insurance covers much of the medical cost, but not the living expenses required to relocate and stay near the hospital. They’ll need to rent a home, cover daily expenses, and handle travel and caregiving costs while living far from their support network in Virginia and Florida.

What’s at stake?

Without a transplant, Tim’s life expectancy is 12 to 18 months.

This surgery could add 7+ more years to his life.

Relocation is urgent.

We are raising funds to help with:

Temporary housing near the hospital.

Travel, food, and basic living costs during the 9–12 months in whatever location he lands, which he'll know shortly.

Out-of-pocket medical expenses not covered by insurance.
