Give Hope: Legal Aid for a Detained Father
Donation protected
Hello,
I am launching this fundraiser to raise money for a family I hold close to my heart. To protect their privacy, I will not share names or specific details of their case but instead give a summary, and if you feel called to do so, please consider donating.
My friend was brought to the US when he was a small boy. He, unfortunately, was picked up by ICE and has a complicated immigration case that requires legal representation and filing fees. Because he's detained, he has no way to work and pay for an attorney. Instead, his mother, who makes minimum wage, has been working tirelessly to pay his legal fees. My friend is married and has two small children who miss him dearly. His wife is unemployed and suffers from mental health issues. The burden of caring for two small children on her own is getting heavier by the day and each day he is detained, his children suffer.
Immigration law is complicated, but mostly, it's unfair. The policies and laws were designed to keep those less fortunate from obtaining any immigration benefits. Only those who can afford legal counsel have a remotely fair shot at the American dream. Even then, money will not buy you a pathway to gaining lawful status in the US, but having the means to afford an attorney gives my friend a fighting chance and the hope his family so desperately needs.
My friend has been living in America since he was a small boy. America is the only place he's ever called home. In every way, he is an American and deserves to remain in the country. Deportation would tear his family apart and the consequences will be detrimental to all. His wife and children need him for survival.
The money you donate will go towards his legal fees and any filing fees associated with his case. Any extra funds will go towards his wife and children.
Thank you for your kind donation and please share this fundraiser with others!
With love,
Jackie
