Dear Friends and Community,
My name is Calado Fazal and I am working with my sister Alegra to raise money to help support people in our community who rely on food stamps. We are both students at Redwood High School in Larkspur, CA. We are actively involved with the SF-Marin Food Bank and food security is important to us.
We are reaching out to you today to support the members of our community who are impacted by the lack of funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) due to the government shutdown. As of November 1st, those in need of this assistance will not receive their SNAP benefits (commonly known as Food Stamps).
To combat this, Marin County is trying to raise $3.3 million dollars, which is the amount normally received monthly from the government for SNAP. Let's unite as a community to support those in Marin County to make sure everyone has access to feed themselves and their families. As teenagers who volunteer bagging and delivering food to people who rely on these programs, we can't imagine what would happen if there was nothing to deliver. Every contribution, no matter how small, puts food on someone's table.
To help Marin raise the $3.3 million dollars needed, and to further fill Food Bank delivery bags, we are asking for your help. Any amount is appreciated. All donations will go directly to the SF-Marin Food Bank.
Thank you for your support!
