SF-Marin Food Bank

Hi, I'm Sarah Lowenthal, and I'm reaching out to support the incredible work of the SF-Marin Food Bank. Their mission is clear and vital: to end hunger in our community. Even before the pandemic, one in five neighbors faced food insecurity, and the need has only grown since then. Together, we can make a difference!

Your contributions will directly support the SF-Marin Food Bank in their efforts to ensure everyone has access to nutritious food and a strong support network. Here are just a couple of ways your donations will help:

• Provide essential food supplies to local food pantries, ensuring our neighbors receive the nourishment they need.

My name is Dong Thai and I will be biking 100 miles around the Bay Area on March 6th to bring attention to hunger awareness and fundraise for the SF-Marin Food Bank. 

The pandemic has caused so many families to go into poverty and food insecurity is on the rise. Nearly 1 in 4 American households has experienced food insecurity this past year and the COVID-19 Pandemic could double the number of people experiencing food insecurity globally.

The SF-Marin Food Bank is currently serving twice the amount of people they used to prior to COVID-19.

Many households that experience food insecurity do not qualify for federal nutrition programs and need to rely on their local food banks and other hunger relief organizations for support. Due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic, more than 50 million people may experience food insecurity, including a potential 17 million children. 

I have a goal of raising $1000 and every dollar can provide 10 meals. 

$1000 x 10 = 10,000 Meals.

Want to join me in making a difference? We’re seeking monetary donations to purchase food for the less fortunate.  

 My Boy Scout Troop 29 and Cub Scout Pack 29 are raising money to provide food for the less fortunate during this Holiday Season. Traditionally, as part of a National Scouting Event, our troop goes door-to-door during the first two weekends in November, collecting non-perishable food for the less fortunate. 

But this year, due to the COVID-19 situation we are in, we cannot make our usual neighborhood. So, to compromise, we’ve created this GoFundme to raise cash. We’ll donate all the proceeds to the SF-Marin Food Bank. And through their connections - they’ll be able to stretch your donations farther – allowing them to purchase $4 worth of food for every $1 we raise in donations. 

More information about SF-Marin Food Bank: The mission of the SF-Marin Food Bank is to end hunger in San Francisco and Marin counties. We work to end hunger in three primary ways: we operate 255 weekly farmers' market-style pantry distributions, help clients enroll in CalFresh (foods stamps in California) while leading the call for improvements to this vital program, and we supply food to over 300 anti-hunger programs serving low-income individuals and families. This year, we will distribute 50 million pounds of food to those facing hunger.
