Give Gokwe's Girls A Dignified Start to 2025

Imagine facing the challenges of growing up without access to basic menstrual products, clean underwear, or even soap. For many girls in rural Zimbabwe, this is their reality.

My name is Laura Jones, I started Infradian (a women's health community) after facing many reproductive health challenges. I passionately advocate for women's health in England, however during my stay in Zimbabwe I have seen the hardships many are facing especially women and girls.

My heart has been moved hearing the many stories of what a young girl in the rural arears has to go through while on her period.

One story that really moved me is that in some family's they have to choose between buying food or buying sanitary towels. The lack of resources means that girls have to use a cloth rag called a dende while on their periods. This cloth rag is awfully uncomfortable to wear as you can imagine it has to be quite thick to hold all the blood. Girls in the villages often have to walk quite a long distance to attend school whilst wearing the dende, which causes chaffing and rashes in the heat of the day.

I have teamed up with Anna Honde, who often donates pads and essentials to girls in Zimbabwe.

Our goal is to provide the girls of Gokwe with sanitary pads, soap, underwear to give them a fresh start to 2025.

These simple essentials are more than just supplies, they’re a lifeline. They ensure girls don’t miss school, stay healthy, and start the new year with confidence and dignity.

With your help, we aim to raise £1000 by the end of the year, ensuring that no girl is left behind. Every contribution, big or small, will make a lasting impact.
