Give David's Family a Christmas Miracle

I'm David Heikkila's sister, Rachael Heikkila-Lassi. My brother has a wife Dawn and four children, Aidan 14, Shelby 11, and two step children Sean and Mikayla.

Since last November 2023, my brother was diagnosed with Acute Rhenal Stage N Kidney failure and has now been diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure and a 3rd degree blockage. He has been in and out of hospitals for the past year.

On Thursday, December 12, 2024, he had a heart attack at home after just visiting the ER. He was taken by ambulance and was airlifted to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. He coded on the helicopter pad, and 2 more times while in the Emergency Department and 2 more times while getting Dialysis.

His lengthy illness has not allowed him to work and my Sister-In-Law has missed a lot of work due to David's medical appointments or hospital stays. Monthly bills, traveling over an hour one way and back and forth have added up.

Christmas is almost here and Dawn has spent most of her time at Mayo with my brother. Our mom and I have been staying at a hotel nearby so family can be close in the event of an emergency.

My brother has spent 12 days in the MICU and has a long road ahead of him. He will need to be in a facility with extensive Speech, Occupational/ Physical therapy and Dialysis 3-4x per week. We don't know what the future holds, but he's going to be hospitalized for quite a few more days maybe even weeks.
