Give Darcy a PS5 and TV for Christmas

Donation protected
Darcy Watkins is a 13-year-old boy who loves the simple pleasures in life. He enjoys playing Roblox and soccer and possesses an imagination for play that rivals the best artists. Darcy has also recently been diagnosed with ADHD.

Darcy lives with his mother, Julie, and his older brother, Liam. Liam has Down syndrome, an intellectual disability, hip dysplasia, and is nonverbal. Last year, Darcy and Liam’s father passed away after a battle with liver disease, placing even more pressure on the family dynamic. Now, as the sole provider for the family, Mum juggles maintaining the household, paying rent, and handling bills, while also dealing with the complexities that come with having a high-needs child with a disability.

Their current living situation has forced Darcy to remain sheltered in his bedroom for long periods, as his brother Liam demands significant attention from their mother and occasionally lashes out at Darcy with punches and scratches to get him to leave the room, thus securing undivided attention from Mum.

They have just secured new housing through their service provider, which allows for a more holistic environment for all, including a separate lounge room for Darcy to play his video games.

However, Darcy has a PS3 and no spare TV on which to play.

What we would really love to organize is for Darcy to open a PS5 disc edition and a new TV on Christmas.

Mum works as much as she can, also providing support to the elderly in their homes, and she receives amazing assistance from carers who see both Liam and Darcy as family. However, while this support helps with Liam's needs, the financial burden on this sole-income family is evident. Often, most of Mum’s pay is spent on aids to assist Liam in his day-to-day life (such as incontinence aids), which often means Darcy is left behind and does not get to enjoy the luxuries that most of his peers at school have.

Whether it be $5 or $50, we would love to create a Christmas Day for Darcy that he would never forget. Every bit counts, and we hope that you can help us demonstrate to a child that Christmas miracles do exist in our world today.
