Hi, I’m Charlie, a 19 year old with passion for life. And this summer I’ve been fortunate in receiving the incredible opportunity to travel to America for three months to volunteer at Camp Fairlee, a special needs camp that does truly life-changing work.
I’ll be working as a camp counsellor, providing 24 hour care and support to campers with a wide range of needs and abilities. Including training in first aid, personal care, and of course ensuring every camper feels safe, supported, and valued, creating a summer experience they truly deserve. A demanding role, one I feel so passionate and grateful to be trusted with.
I’m currently a full-time student and have been saving as much as I possibly can, but the costs involved add up very quickly. I’m incredibly lucky to have a close-knit family who sacrifice so much to help support me, yet I’m still working hard to bridge the gap.
This experience means more to me than I can properly express. After my own struggles navigating life, including my diagnosis of autism, I never imagined something like this would be within reach. Being able to give back, learn from others, and to be a part of something so important feels incredibly meaningful to me. Something I will never take for granted.
Any support, no matter how small, would be deeply appreciated. I know life is hard enough as it is, and even sharing this page means the world to me. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story and for supporting me in any way❤️
