Hiya amazing person!

I'm Yza (weird name, I know & I need a drink to tell you how I got it), and I absolutely love life! and I LOVE people! I'm about to tell you a part of my story, but please know that its actually not about me, please keep reading, as my story is just the catalyst for a project that may help dozens, if not hundreds (or more).

As I was going about living my fantastic life, something absolutely freaky happened .... one day I stepped into the shower to wash my hair, and literally a whole cat came off my head (as in, most of my hair fell out in one hit)!!!! I was cradling the hair in my hands like a dead pet trying to resuscitate it back to life! One day I had luscious shiny hair most people envied, and then, literally the next day Chewbacca had been slaughtered in my shower!!!

As you can imagine, I freaked out! Having never had a major medical issue before, my hair was my thing I never had to worry about... and now it was leaving me at a rate that blew the doctors minds. Enter my Jada Pinkett Smith Era!

Being insecure and vain, I was ready to cry, hide away from the world and wallow in my misery, and thus started the hunt for wigs. Turns out it's not as easy as I thought, and man is it expensive!!! Like really expensive! Unless you're happy to wear halloween dress up wigs.

It got me thinking, how do many other people afford it? What about all those people that are going through chemo etc? If you are facing loosing your life, and you cannot work and funds are limited, you will need your money to stay alive, rather than to have your hair back... but hair can give you confidence, and when you look good, you feel good. And when you feel good, you heal better.

SERENDIPITY... so get this, the same week that I got diagnosed, I was at the premises of a charity called Our Big Kitchen (amazing charity that feeds thousands of homeless every year). I was talking to the head of the charity, and not knowing my condition, they were just telling me how they also give free wigs to those that need it but they just don't have the space to operate properly. All their wigs are kept in large garbage bags and they operate out of a living room which just wasn't sustainable. I took this info as the universe giving me a direct command.... so I told them that I literally just got diagnosed, and in my determined and inspired state, I made the bold claim that I would sort this out for them. Didn't know how the hell I'd do it, but knew that I would.

So now here we are, the stars have aligned and I have the space, and we have the wigs... we now just need the funds to renovate and convert 2 storage rooms into a private and beautiful space where people in need of self esteem, or just some caring companyionship, can come and get assistance with 'confidence-giving-wigs' at no cost, and they can get treated and pampered like they would at a normal hair salon. As you can imagine, it can be really scary and humiliating to go to a hair salon when you are literally loosing all your hair or if you are even on the road to recovery but don't have all your hair back yet.

What I love most about this project is that we will all be able to see its completion. It is practical and real, and can be done in a short period of time. Which means that it can help a lot of people sooner too.

Funds will go to:

1. Renovation and conversion of the 2 x store rooms into a salon
2. Additional wigs

I love a party... so I thought about hitting 2 birds with 1 stone. I am using my birthday party to :

A. Have fun with a whole load of awesome people
B. Raise funds to to complete this project

At this event, we will be auctioning off some frickin awesome stuff to raise these funds! But perhaps you don't want anything for your money, and you just want to give, that is much appreciated too. Here is the place to do all of it.

As for me, I'm good. My condition is still very real, but honestly I'm good. I have my awesome family, my ridiculously amazing friends (including you reading this), so I will be ok.......but completing this project will also be a part of my recovery and give me joy! I cannot thank you enough for being here.

If no one has already told you today, then let me be the first: You are incredible! THANK YOU!
