My name is Rhonda, and This Is Why I Walk
I’ve always believed in showing up for people — not just when it’s easy, but especially when it’s hard. That belief became the foundation of something greater when I began working with Greenhope Women’s Services in Harlem more than five years ago.
At the time, I was simply doing what came naturally: organizing a holiday lunch for women who deserved to feel seen, celebrated, and cared for. These weren’t just holiday meals — they were reminders that someone out there believed in them, even if they were still learning to believe in themselves.
Over the years, I’ve watched women smile through tears as they opened gifts meant just for them… seen mothers and children share a hot meal they didn’t have to fight for… and heard stories of hope, healing, and second chances.
That’s what inspired me to officially start the Walk of Hope Foundation — because our community needs consistent love, not just seasonal support. We walk with women and children in shelters, in transition, and in transformation. Whether through a meal, a care package, a moment of laughter, or simply a safe space — we’re here to remind them that better is still possible.
I do this while juggling my 9-to-5 job, being a mother, a partner, a daughter — but Walk of Ho
pe is where my soul lives. This work is not about charity. It’s about dignity.
I’ve been proud to call Greenhope our home base.
I don’t do this for recognition. I do this because I’ve walked through dark places in my own life — and I know the power of someone showing up to say,
“You matter. You're not alone. You still have purpose.”
How you can help: We’re aiming to raise $3,000–$5,000 to make this event shine. Every single dollar goes directly toward the luncheon — no overhead, just heart.
If you’ve ever wondered how to give back in a real, tangible way — this is it.
Thank you for helping us spread joy and hope this holiday season.
