Give a Little, Give a Shoe

Hi, my name is Norest Marwa and I’m fundraising to provide shoes for underprivileged Zimbabwean school children. I’m working with local schools in Mazowe Rural District Council, that provide educational opportunities for children in need. Many of these children walk barefoot to school, which can be dangerous and uncomfortable. I am hoping to raise £2200 to buy school shoes for 100 children. I am working with a group of 7 young people from Southern Africa namely: Lesotho, Namibia, South Africa , Zambia and Zimbabwe. We are a group of the Mandela Washington Fellowship under the Young African Leaders Initiative striving for change within our communities.

Why we need the money:

Shoes are essential for children’s health and safety. They protect their feet from injury and infection. They also help children stay warm and dry in cold weather. When children have shoes, they are more likely to attend school regularly and participate in extracurricular activities.

From worn out shoes to new stronger and durable shoes.

How the money will be used:

The money I raise will be used to buy shoes for 100 children in need. I will work with the local schools to identify children who need shoes the most. I will also ensure that the shoes are the right size and style for each child.

Why the fundraiser is important:

Education is the key to a better future for African children. When children have access to education, they are more likely to break the cycle of poverty and improve their lives. Providing shoes for these children is a small way to help them achieve their dreams.
