Give a Home to Vidhya, a Single Mom & Scholar
Donation protected
Hello - I am a student of Dr. Vidhyalakshmi, Ph.D., a Veena teacher. I learn Veena online from her. Through a website, I found her, and 2 years ago, at the age of 60, I decided to pursue my learning, and I found the teacher.
Help Vidhya Lakshmi Rebuild Her Life & Continue Teaching Veena
A dedicated Veena teacher, a single mother, and a woman of immense resilience—Dr. Vidhya Lakshmi needs our support.
Her Journey of Strength & Sacrifice
Vidhya Lakshmi, 41, from Tanjore, India, has devoted her life to the art of Veena. Despite countless struggles, she pursued her passion, even earning a Ph.D. in Veena—a rare achievement.
Her challenges began early. She lost her father at 19, leaving her family in financial hardship. Through sheer determination, she not only pursued her education but also became a contract teacher at Thiruvaiyaru Music College, earning just ₹15,000 ($180) per month.
A Life Uprooted
Despite her hard work, poverty forced her to lease out her ancestral 600 sqft home. Last year, she was evicted and had to move into a rented apartment. As a single mother of two teenage daughters and the sole caregiver for her 62-year-old mother, she continues to struggle to make ends meet.
Why She Needs Your Help
We are raising $35,000 to help Vidhya Lakshmi buy a small home so she can:
✅ Secure a permanent place for her family
✅ Continue teaching Veena and pass on her invaluable knowledge
✅ Support her daughters’ education and give them a brighter future
Your Support Can Change Her Life
Dr. Vidhya Lakshmi has dedicated her life to music and teaching, preserving an ancient tradition. Now, it’s our turn to give back. Every donation, big or small, brings her closer to stability and security.
