Devon Girlguiding Switzerland Trip and FORCE Cancer Charity
Don protégé
I am pleased to confirm that four of us have now completed the 5km Inflatable Race on Saturday at Exeter Westpoint as an alternative to the skydive. Elaine, Kirstin, Lee and I took this on with 5 of our kids as well, Arabella, Tilly, Chloe, Leo and Holly. 5km might not sound far but there was 30 obstacles to deal with on the way as well... I know for me this was a fair challenge but I did enjoy it and am glad I've been able to do something that was be a challenge for me in order to raise money for these two great causes, Willand Girlguiding's Switzerland Trip and Force Cancer Charity. It was a beautiful morning with a welcome breeze and all had a lot of laughs and fun.
So if you haven't already given to our cause and would like to then there is still time!
We will update you as and when the others in our group who were supposed to be doing the skydive find an alternative event that works for them.
Thanks
Bridget
For those of you that don't live locally you may not be aware but Buzz Skydive have now gone into liquidation so none of us will now be able to do a skydive with them going forward although there is talk of some of the staff creating their own company but this has yet to be confirmed.
Dear all
Firstly we'd like to thank you all for your very kind donations and support so far on this journey we are taking.
As you know, on Friday of last week there was a very sad event that took place at Dunkeswell Airfield that meant two people lost their lives in a skydiving accident. We understand from SkyBuzz that this was a one off accident and the authorities have given them the all clear to restart their skydive experiences.
As a group we have discussed this a lot this week. Some of us have decided doing a skydive is no longer right for us and others have decided that it isn't the right time for us to do this skydive. Our families are still concerned and we feel until we know the outcome of the investigation it isn't right to carry on as though nothing has happened. As a result we will not be doing our skydive on Saturday.
We are now in the process of trying to find another event that we can take part in in order to do you guys proud! Once we have worked this out we will let you know. We'd ideally like to find something that we all want to do on a date we can all manage...not an easy task so please bear with us while we work this out.
Thanks from all of us.
Bridget
We are excited to share that on 21st June 2025, we will be taking a leap of faith by doing a skydive! An incredible group of Leaders, Rangers, and Parents from 1st Willand Guides, 1st Willand Rangers, 5th Exeter Guides, 1st Exeter Rangers and Eggbuckland Guides will be joining forces for this adventure. This thrilling adventure is not just about the jump; it’s about creating unforgettable memories for our girls as we plan an amazing trip to Switzerland in August 2026.
Our goal is to provide the best possible experience for everyone involved, and that’s where your support comes in. We are aiming to raise £500 each to help fund this journey, ensuring that every girl has the opportunity to participate and enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime adventure which will be led by willing volunteers.
In addition to supporting our trip, we are also committed to making a difference in our community by raising funds for FORCE Cancer Charity. This organization has been a beacon of hope for many providing invaluable support during challenging times.
Every contribution you make will be split equally between our trip fund and FORCE Cancer Charity (50/50). Your generosity can help us achieve our goals while also supporting those in need. Together, let’s make a positive impact!
Thank you for visiting our GoFundMe page and for your kindness and support!
