Cheswardine Brownies and Guides have been invited to take part in a "100 challenge" to celebrate 100 years of World Thinking Day (see below for info) and raise funds for our units & meeting place. They are to pick a personal challenge such as swim 100 lengths, 100 minutes of silence, make 100 of something and get some sponsorship.
We will post updates as to what some of our members decide to do below.
A Guide has read 100 pages a day for a week - well done!
A Guide is swimming 100 lengths and baking 100 biscuits - she will have earned those biscuits!
A Brownie wants to collect 100 things
A Brownie wants to bake cakes to raise £100
A leader has written a list of 100 challenges which she is going to complete in 100 days (and they all 100 themed!)
Our units are ran by volunteers. We keep our rates for young members as low as possible (around £3 a week), but this means we need to raise between £1000 and £1500 a year to keep them going - so every pound you can donate/sponsor is greatly received!
World Thinking Day is celebrated on the 22nd February and is observed by guiding and scouting members around the world. This day was picked as it was the joint birthday of Robert Baden-Powell (founder of Scouts) and his wife, Olive, who helped develop Girlguiding.
The very first World Thinking Day happened in 1926, so we are celebrating 100 years this year!
Since 1932, this day has been linked to raising money to support guiding around the world.
