Scouts Aleena and Daniyal Asim to honor Veteran Advocates

Donation protected
Since I was 8 Years Old, my brother Daniyal, who is a Boy Scout, and I became involved in learning about Muslim American Veterans, why they are important to our personal journeys and appropriate ways to honor them. Now, we have a broader awareness of Veterans and are able to “see” Veterans in a broader context. In meeting Leaders in the Veteran Community who also “see”Veterans through eyes of appreciation, respect, and empathy, I learnt that we all have a duty to honor Veterans and appreciate their needs. There is so much need for volunteers to help meet Homeless Veterans needs. That was the inspiration for Lonnie Sherman’s “General Needs” Nonprofit Organization in Long Island. NY that provides for Veterans basic needs and for Veteran Advocate, Victoria Blaise who cooks and provides food and blankets for homeless veterans living in the woods in Vermont.
Because of these volunteer leaders in community , I am reminded of the strength and power of Volunteers. I have made it my goal to meet them face to face and to honor them for their courage, strength, and example. We will create Knot Boards to honor and present to them. Any money raised will be used for these knot board projects and to support these volunteer organization.
