Gio's Cosplay Rally for helping Ugandan Single Mothers!

Thank you for checking out my fundraiser! Many of you know me as Gio, or kawa__ii on Instagram, a DMV-based cosplayer who loves to bring your favorite bishonen characters to life.

What many of you also don't know is that I am also a full-time Graduate Student at GMU. As part of my last semester of Graduate School, I took on an virtual internship with Subir African Foundation, a Uganda-based organization that aims to help solve its community problems in public health and education. Of the many issues that this organization aims to solve, this fundraiser will be donating for one of their goals to support single mother households. According to World Bank statistics, only 37.8% of women currently own ownership, and 27% of women have experienced some form of sexual violence, 45% from intimate partner relationships. Women in Uganda have a significantly higher percentage of experiencing sexual violence than the world average, and it paints a picture of the economic and social disparities that Ugandan Women face to this day.

This fundraiser aims to feed at least 15 Single Mother households while they face unemployment or seek to better their lives. For 100 dollars, this can feed a family for up to a year while a mother continues to be the breadwinner. Part of the food packages include beans and corn flour, a staple in many basic cooking dishes.

Subir Africa Foundation (SAFO-Uganda) is a community-based nonprofit organization, working to improve the lives of vulnerable and marginalized groups around Masaka City and greater Masaka through participatory and collaborative approaches. SAFO-Uganda's core program areas are Health, Education, Economic Development, Food and Nutrition Support, Sustainability, Women, Children & Youth. SAFO-Uganda runs workshops to raise awareness. This includes visiting schools, communities and health facilities.

Subir Africa Foundation Uganda (SAFO Uganda) is situated in Kimaanya, Masaka, Uganda under reg.no.MC/NM/8992/2023. Concentrate on the implementation of fundamental programs in a variety of domains, including environmental conservation support for young children and education. It is our objective to offer comprehensive assistance to marginalized and vulnerable social groups. And we focus on promoting sustainable development and empowering local communities.

The fact that SAFO has the support of foreign businesses and students from various nations who act as youth activists to help promote better sustainability sets the foundation apart from other NGO's. Youth has always been an important factor for SAFO, and the continued support from the younger generation is what helps drive our mission forward and ensures long-term impact in the communities we serve. Through collaboration with diverse stakeholders, we are able to implement innovative solutions that address the complex challenges faced by marginalized populations around the world.

Overall, SAFO continues to cultivate and embrace partnerships with philanthropists who are convinced of the transformative potential of a better quality of life. Donors who make a gift THROUGH it rather than TO it uphold SAFO's founding commitment to have a positive impact on the communities we serve. This investment is made through academic programs, financial support for students, and research initiatives.

How this works: Donate on here X amount of cash to my cause, and then DM me on Instagram (kawa__ii) what character I cosplay you'd like a photocard of, and you'll receive a SIGNED photocard selca of that character. This campaign ends on 11/17/2024, and mailing period will is estimated to be the following two weeks.

Donations over 10 USD will receive two photocards of donor's choice.

As soon as this fundraiser is over, this will directly being taken out on a money order account and sent to my Supervisor in Uganda for his foundation.
