Many have asked about sending condolences, donations, or how to assist Mark’s family during this tragic time. When considering what Mark would want most in his memory, it was agreed that it would be to ensure that the love of his life is cared for, supported, and continues to pursue her dreams. Thus, gigimakinsomeart fund was created.

Mark and Gillian were each other’s biggest cheerleaders. They were partners in crime, dancing, making art, cooking, pet parenting, road tripping, and fully embracing the adventure of life and love. Their love for each other was unmistakable and effortless. Mark glowed when he talked about her and was especially proud of her art and her desire to make a difference with it. He attended every iron pour, art opening, and event, and shared plenty of late nights in the studio, either feeding artists, helping make or install art, or simply keeping everyone laughing. Over the past three years, they weathered the storms of Louisiana, literal hurricanes, 2020, graduate school, and the loss of their beloved pets. Through the difficult times, their love only grew. Returning to Florida in the winter was an exciting new beginning. Living in a coastal city they loved near friends and family, plus a new kitten, job promotion, and arts commission meant that the future held nothing but promise.

Our hearts are broken for Gillian and their families. It is without a doubt that Mark would want more than anything for Gillian to stay inspired, keep creating, and share her incredible talents with the world. All funds collected will go to Gillian to support her during this devastating time.
