You don’t need billions of dollars to give a child hope. Sometimes all it takes is a single jersey.
Ronaldo Nazario’s dream began with something just as simple. When he was a young boy in Brazil, one of his neighbors gifted him a cheap plastic street ball. It wasn’t fancy. It wasn’t expensive.
But Ronaldo spent hours playing with it, day after day, later saying that this little ball “started everything”.
In the same way, a simple piece of soccer jersey can ignite something extraordinary in Cambodian kids. A single jersey does more than inspire them to dream of becoming soccer players. It gives them motivation for life. It tells them they matter. It shows them that someone believes in them. Imagine their joyful and excited faces when they finally receive a jersey of their favorite players. The children in Cambodia love soccer, and they play whenever they can. For them, soccer is joy, community, and a source of hope.
After my church mission trip to Cambodia, I have not stopped thinking about the children I met. Their gratitude, happiness, and resilience deeply moved me, and I felt God’s presence in every moment we shared. Even the simplest gifts brought them incredible joy, and it reminded me how things we take for granted mean the world for someone else. Next year, I want to give these children soccer jerseys and meaningful gifts to show them they are loved and remembered. These gifts will bring joy, spark confidence, and remind them that their dreams are worth pursuing.
We are privileged to live with comforts many others do not have. This fundraiser is a chance to use God’s blessings for a purpose. Please consider supporting this effort. Even a small donation will make a big difference in a child’s life.
