Gifted Guitars Foundation NFP is an Illinois non-profit organization and registered with the IRS under 501(c)(3) rules.
Gifted Guitars was formed with a mission to give the gift of music in the form of free guitars to kids aspiring to learn or already learning to play guitar but can’t afford to purchase one of their own.
The model is simple: we accept donations of guitars and guitar gear (amps, straps, cases, etc.) reaching donors through community Facebook groups. From there we refurbish the guitar: cleaning it, fixing anything that needs to be fixed, and installing new strings. We also purchase new and used guitars and amps to supplement our inventory.
For recipients, we get them through a combination of social media networking as well as partnering with music educators. When we learn of a potential recipient, we reach out to them with the query of understanding their situation. Our "model" recipient is a youthful recipient age 8-18 who loves music and wants to learn, who comes from a family where challenges make it difficult for them to afford a musical instrument for their child. We give special consideration to military and veteran families. We will consider adult recipients depending on the adult's situation.
We seek to hand off the Gifted Guitars in person. As of the current date we have given away more than 90 guitars as well as amps, cases, cords, picks, etc. We seek to provide a complete package.
Your contributions will help fund the following:
1) Instrument and accessories purchases
2) Strings, parts, shop supplies and materials
3) Business costs and fees.
4) NFP business liability insurance costs
Our bylaws state that no one will ever receive cash compensation from this organization.
We are accepting non-cash donations of course, of guitar gear, guitar parts, cases, etc., as well as professional services such as legal review and guidance in the 501c3 process.
We deeply appreciate any and all assistance given.
