Gift School in Mombassa, Kenya

Donation protected
In January, I went to "The Gift School" and "Minto Children's Home" in Kenya. "The Gift School" operates in mud houses in the slum area of Bangladesh outside of Mombasa. "Minto Children's Home" is an NGO that cares for young Kenyan orphan girls who's parents were affected by AIDS/HIV in Mombassa as well. These children value learning a great deal and donations would go to basic life necessities. Please read below to see what a donation would go towards!

  • At The Gift School, More than 500 students attend in and make up 11 different classes. Ages range from 4 to 15, and students are taught, Swahili, English, math, and science.
  • At Minto Children's Home, there are 22 young girls that are all that share a 3 bedroom living space.
  • Funds would go to helping The Gift School build mud houses, water wells, salaries for employees, school books, sanitary products and other equipment for the school.
  • Funds directed to the Minto Children's Home would go to needs such as clothing food, building materials, tools, household goods, furniture, school/office materials, medical supplies, sports/ musical equipment and more.
  • Most if not all students at The Gift School are orphans or at risk children due to the economic status of their family(s). Tuition per month ranges from $2.14 to $3.60. This is 300-500 Kenyan Shillings per month.
  • Both facilities is are non-profits and NGOs that receives funding for meals to children that might not get food otherwise from the Scandinavian Children Mission.
  • Thousands of children have been helped by these facilities.
