Gift of Sight is an unspoken promise of an Indian Army Officer’s mother, she is now 80 years and lives with her daughter in Houston. But has created a legacy that is truly amazing. She created Friends for cause Foundation after losing her son on the border(Operational Casualty).
Lt Col Nitin Bhatia was an officer of great valor and humility. He along with his brother Yogesh Bhatia contributed to many different causes since the very early years of his life. Post, Lt Col Nitin Bhatia’s martyrdom in “OP FALCON”, his mother and family decided to honor his commitment towards society.
For the past 9 years, the martyr’s family has given their time and efforts to Friends for Cause Foundation (Regd.), found in the memory of Lt Col Bhatia. Amongst the various projects of Friends for Cause Foundation is the “GIFT OF SIGHT” project – which raises funds and enables eye surgeries for rural India, and in accordance with the directives of the Government of India.
Rain or shine or Covid – These camps are organized each year and the family members of Lt Col Nitin Bhatia who are living in the US and Canada make sure they are present on the ground to meet each person in need, support them, and arrange fundraisers to support these eye surgeries.
We are both proud and humbled to share that to date 2027 eye surgeries have been undertaken and over 10000 eyesight glasses have been distributed so far. 50000 peoples have been tested in these 100s of camps organized in rural India.
