Gift Connie Mobility with Portable Oxygen Generator

This is my beautiful mom, Connie. For many years, she has bravely fought various heart and lung conditions, facing each challenge with strength. However, in August, her situation took a turn for the worse when she was placed on 24-hour oxygen and admitted to hospice care (Gentiva Hospice, Erwin TN).

Now, while we cherish every moment with her, we face a significant hurdle. Her insurance will not cover the costs of a portable oxygen concentrator, which would greatly enhance her quality of life. Instead, she is left with a heavy metal tank that she has to roll around. For a woman who has always been active, this tank is a ball and chain.

Connie used to enjoy morning walks with our dog, grocery shopping by herself, and not relying on someone for all of her needs. A portable oxygen concentrator would restore her ability to enjoy the great outdoors, a place she loves most, and regain her independence in daily tasks.

During my visits, I’ve witnessed the struggle she endures with each movement, but I’ve also seen the freedom she experiences when someone else can help manage her oxygen tank. It’s heartbreaking to see how her mobility and spirit are affected by this limitation.
