Gift Christmas to stranded Trini farm workers

Southern Ontario farming relies heavily on seasonal migrant farm workers from Mexico and the Caribbean. Covid 19 has caused a lot of difficulty for the farms and the workers this year, and to top it all off, there are currently 200 workers from Trindad and Tobago stuck here, far away from their families and friends. 


These workers are in relative isolation on some Southern Ontario farms. They can go nowhere and have little money to enjoy the holidays, but they have each other and they have a love of celebrating Christmas. Let's help them celebrate even though they're missing all their family and friends from back home. 


Local groups have been getting donations of warm clothing for survival. The goal for this fund is to raise $1500 immediately, which goes to Christmas trees, lights and decorations, and then helps fund celebratory dinners for 200 at Christmas with traditional holiday favourites like turkey, christmas rice, okra, caliloo and everything else. We can all help bring smiles and joy in this unique and lonely time.

$140 came in by cash, so the remainder of the goal is $1360.
