April 11, 2014 to present = XII
Help me celebrate a milestone..
12 years of abstinence from drugs, alcohol, poverty and instibility.
In these 12 years I've found the stability and discipline necessary to persevere 10 years as a professional driver in the trucking industry, and 3 of those 10 as a petroleum transportation specialist.
I've found joy in staying fit on my mountain bike, had my firearms rights restored, fulfilled the dream of owning a motorcycle, and became a peer support specialist.
I've been doing outreach in Davis with the DPD on a weekly basis for four months now. As some of you remember I did a campaign in March and April of 2024 cleaning up abandoned camps and making dump runs for occupants of active camps distributing gift cards, food and water in exchange for their help. Earlier this year I started another campaign of socks, underwear, toothbrushes, toothpaste, etc. which I distributed while accompanying an officer from the DPD.
This time around I'd like to do gift cards from some local grocery stores, ideally the Davis Food Co-Op. It's a local business and it's in close proximity to both the shelter, and the respite center. I'll be rewarding individuals who work with us, officers, clinicians, case workers and peer support specialists to improve their circumstances. Gift cards will be much easier to transport and distribute as they're not nearly as bulky as clothing and toiletries.
Let's shoot for $600 to start off with, I'll match 20% of the first $500 by kicking off the campaign with $100.
Thank You,
Jesse Fiero
