Gift Bags for Kids with COVID or in hospital

HUGE THANK YOU to Oneonta RIF for hearing about Elliot's Gift Bag Kid Project and donating 54 books of his favorite series (Zoey and Sassafrass) to put in the bags!! What an INCREDIBLE start to our day today!!!

 

Update 2: Another 8 bags were sent to the Syracuse Upstate Children's hospital! Next goal: Bassett pediatric ward!

 

Update: Elliot was able to donate his first 40 bags to our local pediatrician's office and he is BEYOND elated. He is continuing to try to fundraise and is hoping to keep this going- expanding to local hospitals, providing bags for any kids in the pediatric wards.

Update: What is included in the bags! 

With some variation, every bag includes a copy of Elliot's favorite book, a stuffed animal, a notepad, a shaped crayon, an activity pad, a mini kaleidoscope, a toy, some art supplies and a sheet of stickers. Each bag also includes a jar of beads and trinkets—a scavenger hunt game called an "I Spy" jar—that Elliot makes himself.

Elliot has a goal to make gift bags for kids with COVID.

 

After hearing a friend had COVID one night, Elliot and his siblings sprung into action (at bedtime no less) and immediately started gathering craft supplies and toys they had not used yet or knew their friend would like. An hour later, a gift bag, complete with get well cards, was ready to roll.

 

Elliot was elated and inspired. He felt like he "could finally help!" during the pandemic. He decided he wanted to make MORE gift bags for MORE kids with COVID.

 

After reaching out to our pediatrician, Elliot decided to start there, giving gift bags to kids with positive tests at the office.

 

He has a goal of 50 bags to start.

 

If Elliot goes past his goal, he will be making more and more gift bags. He has big dreams to keep this going and become "The Gift Bag Kid" expanding to hospitals throughout the state, even after COVID settles down.
