Gideon Winterbourne & Family
In the weeks proceeding, a much too early arrival, of a sweet baby boy, Amber & John, were made aware that he would need surgery soon after birth for Fetal Duodenal Atresia, otherwise known as a bowel obstruction. They did not know exactly what to expect, but were told it could mean weeks up to months in the hospital, multiple surgeries, etc. So they began making a plan, communicating with friends & family, and taking it one day at a time...
Gideon was welcomed into the world on December 21, 2020, weighing 4lbs 5 oz., lungs underdeveloped and next day surgery planned to remove the blockage in his intestines. The surgery was a success and he continues to fight all adversities!
The Alsea Valley Gleaners are fundraising for the Winterbourne Family to help relieve some of the financial stress that has been put upon them by staying at the NICU to care for their newborn son, to ensure that they can provide for their three daughters while they are away, to pay for any unexpected medical bills, and to cover any other costs that may arise from such a life-changing event!
If you don't already know, the Winterbourne Family, lives and breathes giving & sharing, it only makes sense to lift some of the burden from their AMAZINGLY strong MINDS & HEARTS! They are constantly working to fight hunger, teach food preservation, and lead an EXTRAordinary self-help Gleaners Program in our rural Alsea Community. We can only begin to imagine what they are going through right now, and how much they need to be surrounded with warmth & joy.
