GHARA is an Australian based charity that provides support services to adults with intellectual disabilities and their families from low income backgrounds in India.

GHARA started operations 15 years ago from a little shed in Bangalore providing therapy, food, living aids and respite care to 5 members. Thanks to fund raising events and generous donations over the years, GHARA has been able to make a tremendous leap to being able to support 19 young adults at a new purpose built, disabled accessible facility in Bangalore.

Today, the Centre runs individualised programs that focus on the development of its member’s gross / fine motor skills, social, self-care, communication, and vocational skills in a safe and nurturing environment.

Over the years, GHARA has been able to support and make a meaningful difference to the lives of hundreds of people with disabilities and their families. During the Covid pandemic, GHARA reached out in response to the devastating crisis in India by providing food, medication, sanitizers and paying hospital bills for the most vulnerable in various cities and villages in India.

As with any charitable organization, GHARA is unable to sustain itself without sponsors, donations and charity events. Witnessing the powerful impact of this charity, we need to raise funds, not just to maintain our current efforts, but to expand and support the growing number of people in urgent need of our services. Every dollar raised goes towards GHARA’s mission.
