Ghana Students at UNM-Albuquerque Need Help
Spende geschützt
Hi All -
My name is Barry Porter. I am an attorney in Albuquerque New Mexico and former Africa Peace Corps Volunteer (Sierra Leone 87-89). Some Peace Corps buddies and I in Albuquerque have recently befriended three young men from Ghana studying at UNM-ABQ - Ansbert, Abdul, and Patrick.
All three young men are very friendly, hardworking, and trustworthy. They are all here on scholarships with UNM. As part of their student visas, they have to maintain good grades, work on campus, and pay a pretty hefty portion of their tuition - about $4000 per semester for this first year. With their housing and food expenses, they are not able to make the current tuition fees. Next year, they will get in-state tuition and should be able to work more.
We are looking for folks willing to donate any amount possible to help them cover their spring tuition. Each gift amount will be tripled with matching donations from our Peace Corps group sponsors. So, your $20 donation becomes $60! What a great gift for the holidays.
As an attorney here in New Mexico, I will personally account for and deposit ALL of the donations into a trust account solely for the educational expenses of these fine young men.
Let's show them all the love and holiday spirit that abounds here in New Mexico. Please give as you are able. Any questions, please feel free to reach out to me.
Regards, Thanks, and Happy Holidays!
