I’m choosing to celebrate my 80th birthday in a meaningful way — by raising money for Kidney Care UK, a charity that is very close to my heart.

Two of my grandchildren, Jade and Keegan, both live with kidney disease. Between them, they’ve gone through four kidney transplants — an unimaginable journey for anyone, let alone two young people in one family.

Throughout their toughest times, Kidney Care UK has been there — not only with practical and financial support, but also emotional help, including free counselling and events that make a real difference. Jade, for example, had the chance to attend a Kidney Care UK weekend away, and it was an experience she’ll never forget. It gave her a break, brought her joy, and helped her connect with others who understand what she’s been through.

This charity has supported our family in ways we’ll never forget — and now, I’d love to give something back.
