I have recently found a volunteer organization through a program called Global Leadership Adventures which allows teens to go to several different countries to offer much needed services. Salinas Bay, Costa Rica is the one I am most interested in. During the trip we will be teaching underprivilidged children, aiding in the construction of a playground, providing afterschool activities for the children to participate in and working at a local women's shelter. In return the Costa Ricans will teach us parts of their culture. I know with the location the thought crossing your mind right now is that this sounds like a vacation but that is not what this is about. I would never ask another person for money so I could go on a vacation. After graduating college I am joining the Peace Corps, so for me this trip is extremely important. It is about me getting real world experience volunteering for a really good cause and most importantly doing it in a place where I am far from my comfort zone.
