Getting Nana Susan and girls into a home

Donation protected
I'm a teacher in Mission, BC. I met this family in 2019 coaching basketball and have come to learn more about them as the youngest was put into my class this year. I was shocked to learn about their history as I would have never imagined the hardships the girls have faced. They are all wonderful students and incredible leaders in the school. Susan is an active member of our school community and the Mission Community as a whole.

Susan is a grand mother to three girls aged 11, 9 and 8. Unfortunately Susan's daughter passed away when the girls were 6, 4 and 2. Susan has been raising the girls as the legal guardian.

Currently they all live in a one bedroom apartment in Mission. As you might imagine with three growing girls as well as the Covid restrictions, their place is tight.  Susan has been applying to BC housing and Habitat for Humanity. She is on the wait list for BC Housing and got to the last level for a house from Habitat for Humanity.  Susan's job at Mission Raceway has been impacted from Covid restrictions and hasn't been able to work.

Unfortunately she was denied from Habitat for Humanity right before Christmas as her debt to income level was too large. She has been working hard over the past years to get that down but she still has $8,000 left on her van which she uses to get the girls to and from school since they are not in the bus route.

I am hoping to raise money in order to reduce the debt to income ratio so that Susan can apply again to Habitat for Humanity.

Every bit helps!
