Getting kids out sailing!!!!

Hello, My name is Ben Doolittle........and to know me is to know I love to sail. I find sailing to be an incredible way to engage the mind, body and soul all in one endeavor. The moment the dock lines are untied and the boat enters the world aquatic the magic begins.

I am incredibly lucky that my parents introduced me to sailing at a young age and it has captured my imagination ever since.

My intention is to introduce 10 kids to sailing this summer that might not otherwise have the opportunity to participate.

It shocks me that there are kids here in Sacramento that will tell you they have never been to the snow or never been to the beach. I will be working with friends and family in the Sacramento area to find 10 high school age participants that have not had the same opportunities that many of us take for granted. (Feel free to nominate someone that you think would be interested).

Lake Washington Sailing Club in West Sacramento offers a wonderful week long sailing class for Juniors for $200. I want to raise enough to sponsor 10 kids for a week.

A donation of just $40 will provide one youngster a chance to sail for a day, $200 and they are sailing for the whole week.

Please join me in contributing to this worthy cause. You will be helping a young individual enjoy an experience that they simply would not have access to otherwise, encourage an "outdoors in nature" mindset, learn a number of STEM principles, expand their horizons to the farthest corners of the world.......or maybe just get their nose out of their i-phone for a few wonderful hours!!
