Food Van for Goodies Charity

​We are Goodies! An Edinburgh based charity that collects surplus food and other items from around the capital and beyond, from various supermarkets, companies, restaurants, hotels and universities that would otherwise end up in landfill, and redistribute them to those facing difficulties and those on low incomes living below the poverty line.

Since COVID and the cost of living crisis, we have noticed a huge increase in the need for our services, therefore we urgently require a van to collect and distribute larger amounts of produce and other essential items to those in need.

To comply with new regulations in Edinburgh coming into force next year we require a newer van (not brand new, although that would be nice), we have also factored in our running costs.

As well as helping hundreds of people weekly from going hungry, we are extra proud of saving tonnes (tens of thousands of kilos!) of perfectly great produce and goods from going to waste every day!

We are also currently applying for funding to extend our community café which has helped so many people struggling with food poverty, loneliness, mental health issues and the general rising cost of living. We piloted our café at a community centre in Newington for the last three months which was super successful! We had incredible feedback and we are longing to continue. Unfortunately, that space isn't available so we are looking to raise funds to be able to have our own premises and assist more people.
