Trying to Get to Arkansas to See My Mom
I’m trying to raise enough money for , my family and our extended family /— The foster kids who’ve become my siblings by proxy — to go see my mom in Arkansas. She’s really struggling right now Feeling all alone without All her control chaos , and we’re scared we might not have much more time with her.
My mom has been through so much. She survived breast cancer over 15 years ago, and now is fighting pancreatic cancer. She had the Whipple surgery and was cancer-free for less than a year before it came back. She wasn't able to receive any more chemo after the Whipple . She was much too weak. They sold the house and was planning to move to Arkansas to start a new chapter — but instead, she ended up in my living room on hospice care.
That time In my life was one of the hardest experiences !Watching her fade, trying to hold everything together, it broke me in ways I can’t even explain. Eventually, her husband came and took her home to Arkansas, which is where she wanted to be. I’m glad she’s where she was planning to go… but I’m also deeply sad. I miss her so much, and I just want the chance to see her again — to bring her some comfort, light, and love before it’s too late.
I don’t qualify for FMLA, so I can’t take paid time off, and bills are already stacked high. This trip isn’t something I can afford — but it’s something we NEED to do emotionally.
My mom has spent her life helping others. She was a foster parent for years and built a big web of people who’ve all faced poverty and hardship — and she’s been a bright spot in so many of their lives. Now she’s the one who needs someone to show up for her.
Anything helps, even just sharing this. We just want to see her for Thanksgiving and remind her that she’s still surrounded by love. ❤️
