I would like to make a call to action!
Fellow lovers of family, community, advocating for children & following Gods way of LOVE-- can I ask for your help?
HERE'S THE STORY:
This is the Cordy family. Makala is a long-time friend of mine. Makala & Brandon have 5 boys of their own, but also are loving foster parents. They currently have 4 foster children in their home.
The Cordys don't just welcome children into their home to love on them as they go through incredibly hard times. They go above and beyond-- they go out of their way to facilitate & foster a healthy relationship with the children's parents as they try to better themselves. I have seen Makala buy furniture for Moms of her foster kids while they set up a new home, take Moms to appointments to get jobs & licenses, listen to their hearts, and teach them about loving children the way God loves us. I have seen her welcome these Moms into her home as a part of the family, picking them up from over an hour away and facilitating days filled with joy and love. On top of this, Makala gives her time at women's shelters, she gives her time to her church helping in the nursery & providing free photography to families & her church, as well as helping countless Mothers in her community, being a backbone of support when they need it.
One thing the Cordy parents DO NOT do is get any time to themselves. They don't complain about this, they welcome this season and ability to love & advocate for children & families. One desire they DO have though, is to be able to drive places as a whole family unit! Right now, whenever they go somewhere as a family, Makala and Brandon each have to drive a separate vehicle. She has spoken about how lovely it would be to be able to sit next to her husband in the car while their whole family drives to fun places like church, the park, the grocery or the zoo. She has said this time next to him with her family near while they are all just being still would be so special.
HERE IS WHERE YOU COME IN:
The Cordy's have an opportunity to buy a Transit Van! A family friend has agreed to sell it to them for only $2000! It needs four new tires, but Brandon is a mechanic and can get new tires purchased & put on for roughly $500. I don't believe they should have to fret about this! We as a COMMUNITY should support them! Will you please consider donating? I would LOVE to raise the whole $2500 so the Cordy family can be BLESSED with a transit van!
UPDATE: THE VAN THEY PLANNED TO BUY IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE! WE ARE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR A TRANSIT VAN THAT FITS THE BUDGET. ALL MONEY WILL GO TOWARDS A VAN WHEN WE FIND ONE!
THANK YOU & God Bless you all!
