Support the Jamestown Area Historical Society!

Donation protected
The Jamestown Area Historical Society was founded in August 1974 to collect, preserve, and share the history of the Jamestown Area, including the surrounding townships of Greene, West Shenango, South Shenango, North Shenango, East and West Fallowfield, and West Salem townships.

In 1994, the Historical Society purchased the house at 405 Summit Street, Jamestown to serve as a repository for the many historical items that were donated by area residents. Society members and area residents spent many hours and dollars to gut, repair, restore, and renovate the building. It serves as our storage facility, meeting place, and museum with tours provided throughout the summer, as well as by appointment. The house was painted around 2000 through a program offered by the Mercer County Correctional Facility, where inmates came out to paint the house, supervised by a trustee from the facility. Sadly, the last 25 years have taken a toll on the house, which is in desperate need of updating once again. The MCCF no longer offers this cooperative program, and the painting project falls entirely on the Historical Society. We need to raise money for the paint and the painting contractor. We are reaching out to the community for benevolent donations. Every donation is appreciated! We need to preserve this house, built around 1870 and currently 155 years old! She is showing her age, although she is structurally sound and serving her great purpose!

Thank you in advance for your help in gathering the funds to bring the Historical House back to her glory!
