Get Mama Petty to David’s side!

We are reaching out to Spartan Nation with a request for help! Our incredible records secretary at Bixby East Elementary, Debbi Carpenter, a Bixby grad, is facing something no parent ever wants to face. Her adult son, David Petty—a proud Bixby graduate himself—has been diagnosed with APL Leukemia and is currently undergoing treatment in South Carolina, Spartanburg, to be precise!

If you know Miss Debbi, you know she is the warm, steady presence in our school. She’s the one welcoming students with a smile, comforting parents, supporting teachers, and keeping things running behind the scenes. She has poured her heart into our Bixby community as a student, parent, and now an employee! Now it’s time for us to pour our hearts into helping her!

David needs his mom by his side. But with the distance, the travel costs are quickly adding up. Flights, road trips, lodging, meals—it’s a lot for one person to manage, especially when all she wants is to be there for her son.

We’re raising funds to help cover Miss Debbi’s (and Adam, David’s brother, when he can go too) travel expenses so she can be with David without the added stress of how to pay for it. Every donation—big or small—will help ease her burden and bring a little more peace and comfort to a very difficult time.

David had a heart attack of Oct. 2023, then his step dad had a triple bypass end of Nov. 2023 and another surgery this year. The family has been depleted of funds.
